The name won't ring a bell for most everyone here. Let me tell you a little about her:
She was born in Wisconsin, the 4th of six kids and grew up on a dairy farm during the 1930's. She married in 1958 and had three good kids...two girls and a boy. Divorced in 1973, she often had to work two low-wage jobs to support her family...she did so without complaint. Saw her kids through to adulthood without much fanfare and never asked for a medal while doing so. After a time, she was the proud grandparent of four fine young boys and talked of them often....very often. She was a fine cook and had a great sense of humour...better than mine! She had a wonderful selfless nature about her. She was my Mom.....and today, she is home with God.
Bless you Mom....I miss you already.

As I began to read, I was hunting for the unsung connection to The Beatles or Elvis or something like that.
But this person is someone far more important, a true icon in our lives - our mothers.
My condolences and best wishes go out to you, Pat.

Beautifully written, Pat, and you are a wonderful reflection of your mom. Extra strength and peace to you during this time. I also echo what Kyle said so well.

Thank you all for your kindness and well wishes this past week. Mom's funeral was yesterday and I feel sad about it, but with a large measure of peace. During the darkest of hours this week, I was visited by an angel...she wrote this for me:
For now we say goodnight And the missing you begins With each sunrise we hope to honor you In echoes of your laughter, our hearts will slowly mend
And there is another day coming When we will see each other again Until then, we will miss you mom My very first best friend...
I was so completely touched by the kindness that she would think of me....and yes, she is a member here...thank you Lampie!

Thank you, Derek....you and the rest of my online friends have been super-nice and have made this difficult time easier to handle. I have no idea what issues you may have with your Mom, but I can say that I was on super-good terms with my Mom when she passed, and that has been a big blessing. Much luck to you, Derek, and thanks again!
