I see a number of tunes in there that Macca hasn't played in years....that's a mighty fine set list!

I really wish he would do Take It Away and No More Lonely Nights.. it's almost like a kind of musical amnesia... his career from the hit-making early 80s is absent from his memory. Like he refuses to 'go there'.

Do you know what would get me really excited to hear him play live? Temporary Secretary!! It would go down great live. He's always stuck with Coming Up though.

Great idea for a thread:

Here There and Everywhere
Little Lamb Dragonfly
Here Today
Ballroom Dancing
Magical Mystery Tour
Real Love
You Know My Name Look Up the Number
Helter Skelter (my hunch is Mac'll never touch this one)
....and for the encore....
Live and Let Die (as a duet with Axl Rose)

Actually, Macca has been doing "Helter Skelter" for a while... wink

Helter Skelter has been the highlight of his live sets for a few years now.... remember when he first did it at the Live 8 - that was HUGE and it blew everyone away. The version on the Glastonbury set on 'The McCartney Years' dvd is bone-shattering, it sounds even grungier than the likes of Korn... really really heavy and contemporary. And despite what some say, he's still got the voice, he can slay Helter Skelter every time. I hope he keeps playing that one in years to come!

Actually he played it on his Summer tour 2004!

Ha ha.  Man, thats really a surprise to me.  I've heard little commentary from Macca over the whole Manson thing over the years, and just assumed he shied away from the whole thing.  I did hear a great live version of "Helter Skelter" from U2. Introducing the song, Bono says something typically heroic about how Charles Manson stole the song and now they're stealing it back.

If I knew he'd do You Know My Name I'd probably go see him.  That would be absolutely hilarious.  I have had a lot of chances to see Paul or Ringo play but will never go see them.
There's not a chance in a million that anyone else on this board doesn't want to see an ex-Beatle play is there?  I can totally see why people want to go see them, but I have no interest.

I'm sure there are some....I know a few. I'll bet you have seen a number of concerts, Greg? I have too and the vibe at a Macca show was so different, at least from my perspective. I think if you went, your opinion might change, but everybody's different. :)

Oh definitely.  A friend of mine went and said he almost cried it was so special.  I love Wings Over America.  I won't ever see a older Paul sing Hey Jude in a stadium.  Millions will though.  It's a good thing.

Seen concerts?  You mean any?  Jimmy Cliff was my all time fav.  Indigo Girls are always amazing.

Hey Merv.....I love Abe....but is it just me that thinks he messed up the drums on Helter Skelter? They sound all wrong to my ears. Let me find a Q-tip.  wink

Two, I think Abe and the rest of the guys were just playing a Beatles song with Paulie! :)

Greg, it sounds as though you prefer a concert on a smaller, more intimate scale....that's something I know I wish we could see one day from Macca. Won't likely ever happen, but I think it would be awesome.
