I always wondered about Mike Gibbons of Badfinger....is his technique...uhmmm...unique ?  It always looks to me like he is sitting too low and always has his arms in the air. Would that not be really tiring after a while?

It's really all in what you are comfortable with and what you got used to.....I mean, how about the difference between Steve Howe's guitar hitching point and Jimmy Page's....quite different. For me, however, his style would be exhausting. :)

OUCH! My shoulders are sore just watching that! Thanks for posting that, I'd never really thought to look for Badfinger videos.

My son (10 1/2) is a drummer who also drums left, so he'll be interested to see this clip. His kit is set up for a righty, so he plays with arms open, rather than crossed (left hi-hat, right snare). He's right handed but plays left, although he can do either if nudged in that direction. If I had something a little more up to date than my coal-fired camcorder I could show you what I mean.

I just read a bunch of comments on the youtube site, and a few people have mentioned that Mike is Left Handed and playing a left handed Kit.....maybe that is why it looks the way it does. Awkward has come up a few times. I love the sound of Badfingers drums...not sure if it was Mike or the way it was recorded....it seems like he beats the crap out of the kit, yet when you watch it doesn't look that way. He has some neat rolls and transitions that I really dig....sort of like Ringo...not exactly what you expect to hear.  Pretty cool.  beer
