There were quite a few Lennon songs that were not really finished...but got released anyway by Yoko. I was listening to Nobody Told Me today, and thought...wow...I wish Paul did a screaming counter harmony ala Don't Let Me Down, or Ballad Of John And Yoko style. What other Lennon tunes could the other 3 guys have worked on and just brought them to life?

"Nobody Told Me" was released in 1984 on "Milk & Honey", sort of a "Double Fantesy Vol. 2" Sometimes i wish those 2 albums were released together as one double album.

I've thought the same thing, which led to this:

"Nobody Told Me" was indeed mostly finished released on "Milk & Honey", but it might have been even better in the hands of the Other Lads...

Yeah, the date of the release isn't the point...it's what songs would have been great(er) with the other guys working on it. Nobody Told Me...sounds...to me anyway...FAR from finished.  angel

I wonder how many times, late at night...Paul in his studio....grabs songs by Lennon and Harrison...and add's himself to the mix...just for fun  wink

I wish they hadn't gone down that road.  When I heard about the plan to make something of some Lennon demos I was sad.  I wanted the legacy to stand as it was.  I can't even go into how strongly I feel about that whole Threatle thing.

It's hard to say what John would think about it.  Anyhow...

If it brought pleasure to some people that's good.  I'm probably in the minority in my opinion about the decision to play with his tapes.

I like the post topic though.  I don't mean to disparage the question.

Personally, I really miss those guys singing....Together. There voices had something really special...together it was magic. Some sort of new energy was created when they blended their voices. It's too bad they didn't do guest spots on each others albums..even if it were just the occasional backing vocal it would have been fantastic.  beer

The sum was greater than the number of equal parts, sure, had Paul (and the others) performed on John's songs, they would have been boffo!

Somewhere, I can imagine a blend of "Coming Up" and "Stepping Out" being a Lennon-McCartney 6 minute rock and roll harmony song with heavy jamming, a massive AM and FM hit and at the top tier of the Beatle catalogue.

Maybe I missed the point of the post...as usual.  Anyway,

How great of a tune would Whatever Gets You Through The Night with Paul and John singing it together.  Although Elton did do a great job on that.

I would have loved to have heard George playing a guitar part on the song Mind Games or #9 Dream.

I want to say that Paul singing the harmony on Woman would have been great, but I think John did such an amazing job himself on that that it would be hard to beat.

I got onto a WebChat many years ago, with Joey Molland. He was taking questions for about an  hour..it was pretty neat actually. But anyway, the time frame would have been just after the first Pete Ham Demo's album came out. So I asked him if he and Mike would like to do a "Free As A Bird" type thing with one of Pete's songs someday and he said, yeah, that would be a great idea. Little did I know at the time, that Joey wasn't exactly in the good books of the rest of Badfinger.  wink
