This is the controversial album which featured John and Yoko nude on the cover. I was excited to find it in a record shop many years ago, but my copy was unfortunately among the many bootlegs of this album. They even went to the trouble of emulating the 'brown paper bag' that the record was originally packaged in! The Apple label looked like a faded copy, poorly printed, and the sound quality was bad. I was expecting something like Revolution 9, but cooler, but there's just too much of Yoko sounding like a fire siren, set to the backdrop of a piano collapsing in and out of tune. The production job was a lot worse than I expected. Maybe with home recordings and sound collages, I'd expect more stereophonic effects like in Rev 9 and panning going on, but not much thought went on into the mixdowns to make the album compelling for people like me who dig this stuff when done well.

In all my years as a music fan I've only come across an actual copy of that album once.  Spotted it in a used record store selling for 10 bucks back in 1982.  I stupidedly didn't buy a copy.  I wonder how much the thing is worth now.

In Fred Seaman's book he said that Lennon regularly dispatched his aides to go to all the Beatle conventions with orders to buy up any copies of the "Two Virgins" album that they could find.  He said that John & Yoko were embarrassed by the cover and wanted to get as many copies out of circulation as possible.

Lennon himself was a keen collector of Beatles memorabilia by the way.
