Paul is slated to play the famous Apollo Theater in New York's Harlem district in a couple weeks.  The site is an historic landmark in popular music - particularly for  "Black" or "Soul" music.  The history of performances and artists is too numerous to list here - but you already probably know this fact.

POINT:This is an opportunity for Paul to really pull out a special show - it is really a classic "one-off" show.  Understandably, the tours had public expectations, casual fans and his own need to be popular and pleasing.
This is different - actually a launching for his own channel on sattelite radio and to play a landmark - PERFECT for Paul to dig into his roots, his biographical mucic bag and especially the SOUL side of his music!

I'm interested in seeing him put on a show much closer to The Cavern Shows after Linda passed, rather than his typically brilliant, but mostly predictable concerts.

Let's come up with some ideas, thoughts and suggestions for Paul, all while having fun.

I'll start with a couple suggestions.

By all means, do the Little Richard songs (Kansas City, Hey, Hey, Hey, Long Tall Sally) soul-influenced : Monkberry Moon Delight, Hi, Hi, Hi, Oh Woman, Oh Why? Smile Away
-- and end with a real stunner -- (AND make sure the tape/video is rolling) - "Oh Darling!"

Those are a couple quick ideas - how about your ideas for Paul's special show?

I don't know what the makeup of the crowd will be.  It's in Harlem, but will local residents be attending?  If it's locals I think Got To Get You will be great esp as many of them will know it from Earth Wind and Fire.  I don't know about anyone else, but a couple of my friends (who are black) and I end up educating each other on some great music that each other just aren't so familiar with from our youth.  Anyway, I'd get Stevie there.  Man I wish Billy was alive.  I called my friend Javon about this, and he said that that concert wouldn't be a big deal to him or the kids he grew up with in Brooklyn.

Side note:  Did you ever see that clip of Paul doing Mumbo live?  Man I wish he would have done that live in '76.  That's such a rockin' screamin' tune.  That compares to any hard rockin tune of his.
