I wonder how many of you have this...I found it in a cut-out bin on CD for a couple of bucks. I had these recordings on record, but they sounded terrible. I recall thinking how lo-fi the record was, but anyone who thinks the beatles were just a studio band should hear these. Untamed, raw and bristling with energy, this CD confirms in part what old JL said years ago about Hamburg being where the band sounded best live.

I once had a collection of the Hamburg tapes on cd, but later sold it. The crazy thing is, I can't recall much about the music or the sound quality, I guess the main reason I wasn't so into it was because they were playing mainly the rock 'n roll classics rather than the Lennon/McCartney originals we know and love. I wish I'd kept it now and given it more of a listen.
