I often wondered why they couldn't simply add the 4 "albumless" songs ("Only a Northern Song", "All Together Now", "Hey Bulldog" and "It's All Too Much")  from the "Yellow Submarine" soundtrack on "Past Masters". That way they wouldn't have had to duplicate "Yellow Submarine" which was already on "Revolver" and "All You Need is Love" from "Magical Mystery Tour". That would've made more sense to me. And as for the George Martin segments, put that with the music you hear on the U.S."Help" Soundtrack. That would've made better sense.

I disagree. To be as authentic as possible, albums should be re-released as they originally intended. The only thing I would agree with, would be combining both discs of the 'red' album onto a single disc (maybe the blue too?). But Yellow Submarine is Yellow Submarine, it's a part of the Beatles legacy, it's a part of history that should never be distorted or rearranged.

For that matter why don't we just have the ultimate "Yellow Submarine" soundtrack and combine the 1998 songtrack CD with a bonus CD of George Martins orchestral segments..and the outtakes. make the soundrack more complete.
(BTW: The Blue Album can not fit on 1 CD. Just The Red Album. I know it's screwy, but hey, it was the 70s, back when record companies did things halfassed)
