I can't beleive I didnt review this one yet...falling down on the job....

You have to see this movie. I dont care who you are...or if you hate boxing. The performances by the cast, especially Christian Bale and Melissa Leo are some of the best I have ever seen. I think they will both win the oscars in their respective categories.

The movie is based on a true story of two brothers who are both fighters. The older brother has since gotten into drugs and trouble and is now the trainer for the younger. The story follows the older brothers "comeback" and the younger brothers "coming of age"...it is a story of family and loyalty and inner strength and the fight.

Watch it...tell me what you think...

i can't believe that it took me almost 6 months after you reviewed this to even see it. this...(with the possible exception of inception) is the best movie i've seen in the last 12 months. christian bale did indeed win, and deserve, the oscar for best supporting movie. he was the best crack addict i've ever seen. and amy adams (whom i could watch, and enjoy, reading a menu while sitting in a chair) was equally good (and who may have also won an oscar for this role). and mark walberg is almost always good.

lampie is right. you don't have to like boxing to enjoy this movie. boxing is almost a side plot...what it is really about...is family. whether or not you should always side with the family. whether or not you should be guilt tripped into staying with family...even if they are self serving and not really looking for your best interests. it is about doing what is best for you, even if that means stepping away from the fam.

this movie has intellectual levels. it is deep. it is joyful. it is sad. and it is exciting. and if you were ever curious about what being a crack addict is like, see this flick. you will not ever try crack.

sometimes i'd rather run and hide...than stay to face the fear inside...
