I just got a new Ipod and i constructed a perfect "Let It Be" mix, made up of the 2 versions. Here is the track listing:
Two Of Us (2009 Remaster)
I Dig A Pony (Naked)
Across The Universe (Naked)
I, Me, Mine (Naked)
Dig It (2009 Remaster)
Let It Be (Naked)
Maggie Mae (2009 Remaster)
Don't Let Me Down (Naked [And YES, this song shouldv'e been on here in the first place])
I've Got a Feeling (Naked)
One After 909 (Naked)
The Long & Winding Road (Naked)
For You Blue (Naked)
Get Back (2009 Remaster)

To me, that's how the album should've been mixed in the first place. Now it's on my iPod.

Totally agree that Don't Let Me Down should have been on LIB in the first place.

BUT.....not the Naked version. I really like the original. The Naked version is  missing that great Billy Preston outro and has an inferior Lennon vocal.

Maybe it's because I'm so used to the Original version that the Naked version sounds a little unfinished to my ears.....almost like it's a bootleg.

In fact, I'd rather hear the entire original LIB. I can't really explain it...except to say it probably has something to do with me being an old fogey and I don't like change.  crazy

The main reason why the "Naked" version of "Don't Let Me Down" on the album is because there are some lesser versions of songs on the album than on the single (or the "Past Masters", "1967-1970"). Only other song that has the lesser version on the "Let It Be" album is "Get Back", its like they saved the best version for the single (and those compilation albums).
I believe the best version of "Get Back" and "Don't Let Me Down" are the single versions. But since this is for the album it's good to have the lesser versions (and they're not really THAT "lesser") on the album. You see?
(FYI: I do have BOTH versions on my iPod)

Also agree with 2 of 3. I just think the Naked versions are inferior to all the tracks that ended up on the original Let It Be. Fair enough if you prefer 'The Long and Winding Road' without the lush instrumentation, but why use a completely different take that is decidedly sloppier and at times almost amateurish? Why not just use the original master tapes and turn down the faders on the orchestral parts?

And I can't see how you could possibly use the Naked version of the song 'Let It Be' versus the original LP version that in my mind is the definitive version, with a searing flawless guitar solo (which even the single version lacks). On 'Naked', it's like George loses his way during the solo, it's nowhere as good.

I have no problem using the original master tapes for the best takes and remixing them, but they went about 'Naked' the wrong way in my opinion. They should have just released the alternate takes on a new Anthology series and include 'Carnival of Light' while they were at it. George wouldn't be there to veto it this time! ;)
