I can't recall if this is posted elsewhere, but sometimes I need to be reminded of what a great band these guys were...(Ms. Lampie, Paul sweats in this vid...)

What a voice.

Also:  Those people...all of those people...had no idea exactly what they were seeing.  It's strange to think that they were just enjoying great music, the latest big thing, a special group...but they couldn't have known that they were seeing something that would still be revered almost fifty years later.  They were watching something so special that it is hard to imagine.

(I kind of feel the same thing when I realize that all of the songs we listened to on the radio in the 70's just kind of flew through our heads without us realizing that we were being treated to a golden age of rock-and-roll.  We just expected new, great songs to keep coming over the radio.  We never talked about how legendary this music would become.  We didn't know.)

I'm still floored by the bassline in this song -





These guys were good players. Ringo in that Long Tall Sally clip drummed his butt off, and Macca plays an unbelievable bass on Rain. The only guy in rock music today who would play such a busy-yet-organic/fluid bassline would be someone like Flea from the Chili Peppers.
