Does it play on iTunes? I HAD a bunch of songs that would show up on iTunes, but they would never play. I'm wondering if the info is loaded but not the actual song.

Was it an MP4?  I've had that not work on mine.  Was it from Frostwire?  If it was look to see if the file has 3mb or something.  If it's 0 kb of course it's blank.
I know you probably know both of those things, but I'm just throwing any help out there I can think of.  You could email the file to a friend and see if it works on their ipod.  Shoot, PM me and I'll give you my email.  You could email it to me, and I'll see if it loads on mine.

Did you download Lennon's Utopian National Anthem?  lol!

Remember, MP4s are video files, not audio. And to go on an ipod, video files have to be the correct resolution etc, usually have to be reconverted through a program that converts into the correct format for ipods before they play properly.

Maybe you downloaded a WMA file? Or maybe an OGG file? Or possibly a FLAC file? All these file formats for audio are incompatible with ipods and won't copy on for that reason.

Also, if you're downloading from Frostwire, be aware that many files are 'fakes', have weird things inserted into the id tags to make them not play etc. If you're going to download mp3s you're better off avoiding file sharing programs altogether and using direct download places instead (rapidshare etc). Better off just ripping your own cds with something like Audiograbber and LAME at 320k and use something like Mp3 Tag Tools 1.2 to insert the cover art, at least that way, you're guaranteed of getting a top quality rip as you're controlling it every step of the way. That's what I did with my Beatles remasters :)
