First off, i think i better post my thoughts here where it's safe, for some reason the FG message board can be a little irate. I've always like the "Adult Toons" like "Simpsons", "Beavis & Butthead", King Of The Hill", "Daria", "Cleveland" and my fav of them all, "Family Guy". (never was much into "South Park" or "American Dad") Alot of them have spinoffs ("Daria" and "Cleveland" are spinoffs) I always wondered what it would be like if the "universes"(a term they use) crossed over into one another. There seems to be talk about all the toons from Fox crossing over into each other, but i tell you one thing: Don't EVER speak of a Fox toon crossing over into an MTV toon, that would my #1 rule because they'll go in for the attack. that's almost considered blasphemis.
I had an idea that Meg (FG) would have her own spinoff about her collage days and yall know how they can have counselers. Well, i had an idea that Daria Morgendorfer could be one of the councelers, and would councel Meg. Meg would remind Daria of herself when she was younger. When i posted that idea on the FG board, i felt like i was tarred and featherd, that i commited some sort of board heresy.
If yall don't mind, i'm gonna start posting some of my ideas here, where i know it's safe, where yall know me and this will, more or less be the only, if not primary board i will post on (other than Facebook).
Really though, i thought Mike Judge bridged the gap between Fox toons and MTV toons.

Do they ever talk about the adult cartoons from the olden days?  Rocky and Bullwinkle, Peabody and Sherman...even Bugs Bunny was in the beginning more for both adults and kids.

I think they would consider those purely for kids. Even though when i watch them now, they do have similar political signigance in them especialy the "Loony Tunes" one. They use the same kind of satire to spoof Hollywood and politics that the modern adult toons do. BUT, i would not go on the FG board and tell them that. I just might get labeled a "witch" there.

Agreed....they were produced to be shown in movie theatres before or between feature films, so the audience could be anyone who was there. I read Chuck Jones' biography, "Chuck Amuck", and he was sayingthat, in many of the Warner's short features, they would use characters in them to take shots at theor bosses....and anyone else they felt like. :)

i loved bugs. back in the day, creators of these toons thought a little more deeply. pixar flicks do that as well. they are clever without seeming too clever...giving both kids and adults something to ponder and laugh at.
