In light of what i just found out about the remastered "McCartney 1 & 2" (odd choices). When do yall think we'll get the remastered "Wings Over America"? To me that has always been Paul in his top form. That is amoung the BEST 70s live albums and it's heretical that it's been ignored for remastering consideration. That is the superior version of "Venus & Mars/Rockshow/Jet" as ONE song. There are more songs here that just sound better live than in the studio (with the exception of "Band On The Run"). "Lady Madonna", to me, always sounded like a Wings song than a Beatles song. It just sounds better here.
How would one start a petition to remaster and release "Wings Over America"?

I disagree about the version of Lady Madonna on WOA, it's always been my least favourite song on the album. Paul plays it in a mock-honkytonk style and almost with a weird mock American Fats Domino-type twang to it. Far prefer the way The Beatles played it, straight down the line, 4-to-the-floor, and driven by the guitars and the bass/drums. The piano plays straight on the bar too. When I heard it on WOA the first time, I was horrified and thought he was doing it like a joke as an expression for the way he felt about his Beatle past at the time.

The only tracks I feel are better than the studio versions on this album would be 'Letting Go' and perhaps the 'Venus & Mars/Rock Show/Jet' medley. People go wild over his rendition of 'Maybe I'm Amazed' but it's nowhere as great as his version on McCartney. My favourite track on WOA would be 'Soily', with 'Letting Go' coming a close second :)

This could be considered an underrated 70's live album if not an underrated 70's album.  It almost never comes up in discussions or lists of great 70's albums.  I'll add Call Me Back and Beware My Love as my choices for "better live than studio" cuts.

Is there any detailed account of the overdubs on that album?  Although I probably don't want to know about most of it.  I'd like to think I'm hearing a live show of all that really happened.  My guess is that the backgrounds are added to or altered.  Who knows.

There actually was a remaster of "WOA" done back in 1999 by Toshiba/EMI, available in Japan only. CD copies are quite pricey, though......LP versions are affordable, if that's something you'd like. They have been spotted on eBay....

I'd agree with that! Also, 'Listen to What The Man Said' has a bit of punch live too.

sorry to say, WOA was heavily dubbed. it was the norm tho, so it wasn't as if he was cheating. but if it is worth anything, i read that BITUS was the real deal. no overdubs at all. so...have a smile next time you listen to that one.
