It's getting VERY hard to have to update my collection every few months when some newly remastered special edition of an album i already have on CD comes out that sounds better than the one i have. especiely when i have to live in Mexico where they don't have that kind of music here. VERY rarely but not often. Is this remastering thing gonna keep going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.......... I can't live like this. They need to STOP! Just for at least 5 years.

You're right, but I wonder if it's a combination of the software finally reaching a maturity where the remastering tools can do an excellent job without sacrificing / destroying the original frequencies, and the master tapes of all our favourite albums beginning to deteriorate - it's reached a point where it's now or never to do anything with them before they fall apart, and none of us want that.

I also think that the first attempts at 'remastering' albums back in the 80s and even the early 90s, were not very good. They lacked power and bass. They needed to be redone.
