wow. talk about nostalgia. i remember this song being on the radio about every 10 minutes or so back in the day. i bet it's been 15 years since i've heard that. thank you, greg. reminded of what a good, simple song that was.

and the song worked really well with a horn section.

I remember being corrected on the thread about the John Lennon 'Stripped Down', but after hearing that bass in Silly Love Songs, is it just me, or is that bass performance not as tight as I originally perceived it to be? It seems he kinda misses notes in places.

I'm a freak, but I far prefer the bass sound on the 'Broad Street' version of Silly Love songs. Funky and brought it to the next level!

Nearly nine years separated this version of "Silly Love Songs" from the one on Broad Street...the latter was produced by George Martin and featured Louis Johnson on bass, Steve Lukather on guitar and Jeff Porcaro on drums. Of course, you probably knew all that, Kyle....Louis Johnson was a fave session guy of Michael Jackson, too, and played on a lot of the tunes on "Thriller". Funkiness indeed!  wink

WOW! If i could hear this single-voiced, (as opposed to voice double tracked) it would be complete)

Yes, the inside lyric sheet of Broad Street is a sight to behold, seeing that glittering array of stars on each track.. I remember my eyes lighting up when I first saw Ringo's name pop up on a few of the tracks all those years ago!

I like Linda's backgrounds on this.  There are more than a few Wings tunes that I don't like her backgrounds.
