I just saw him in the new Lady Gaga video a couple of days ago for 'The Edge Of Glory' in which he played the sax break, sad that he's suddenly gone just like that.

got to see him live in ringo's very first all starr line-up.

and i have to think he is not all that replaceable for mr springteen. he was a presence that was much more than just a sax player.

Well put, Chris, and you are indeed correct in my estimation. Danny Federici, the Boss' organ and accordion player who died a while back, had pre-dated even Clarence I believe, but he was a stationary presence...Clarence was a force of his own and a great foil and counterpoint for Springsteen.
