If Kylenz or mi have time I'd be interested in your recollections of being a Beatles fan in the 90's. Can you elaborate?
I remember in the late 80s/early 90s, that the likes of Guns n Roses, Def Leppard, Metallica etc were the popular heavy bands to be into, and you were cool if you also knew a little bit of Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple. But as for The Beatles.. you were out in the cold. I met a few fans later on who were into 90s UK indie music and they were into the White Album as well as early Pink Floyd and Bowie, Brian Eno, that sort of thing - almost like a resurgence of the art rock aesthetic. So it became acceptable to be into the latter-period Beatle stuff but not so much the early work.
But that's only amongst a minority of like-minded people. In the mainstream, more people are likely to be into Queen (they're like The Beatles to those raised in a '70s household'.. to many, Queen would always be the best!) if they're going to pick an older band. It's almost as if The Beatles are considered a bit naff.
These days, I don't care anymore. There's so many artists I like that others hate or never heard of, it just doesn't matter anymore.
