Purely hypothetical, but an interesting thought - You win a private room dinner at a swanky 5 ***** Star restaurant in London with Paul McCartney!  The only rule (other than the customary common-sense, privacy and legal ones) is this:

"You must invite - and we'll arrange - a third party to be present with you and Paul.  It may NOT be a friend or family member of yours or of Paul's.  Select a person who is famous or well-known that you feel would make for a wonderful time for ALL three of you!  We will cover all costs and arrangements, of course."

OK!  Who starts first?  Name?  Reason? crazy

The possibilities are boggling my mind right now...so many theaters to choose from! The rules prohibit me from inviting the Lady Lampie and the Lady Mi...I think they would certainly enjoy some time with Macca! Most of my "heros" are in the fields of music, baseball or statecraft.Maybe a former president! Dinner with Macca and Bill Clinton could go so many ways....we could discuss a number of things....music, sports, politics, charitable work...hmmm. That would be fun!

...alas, I too am restricted from inviting Tiff, Merv, or Joe, so....

Bill Gates...they can talk about their scads of money and charity causes and I can pick Bill's brain about all my software "how to" questions and there are rules about explicit material, so I wont be telling you about what I would talk to Paul about...  grin

Well normally I'd say Beatrice or Stella (haven't chosen yet...), but as the rules made me do some more serious thinking (as usual, with your posts), it finally comes down to three options, but I think I know who I'd choose out of the three - that would be my history teacher from highschool - he was both a magnificent man and teacher, who actually made me want to study - which is more than I can say for any other teacher I ever had. I had some difficulties with the subject but I just loved him so much I was determined to succeed - and I did! That's what being a good teacher is all about, you know. I don't know what it's like in your places but here this kind is sooo rare...he always used to tell us what a huge Beatles fan he was and I know he would have loved to spend an evening with Paul. They'd probably play and sing together - he was an amateur singer as well...he was the reason I studied history in college. I finished highschool over ten years ago but always went to visit him at least a few times a year - I went to show him my history essays from college, and, of course, my graduation diploma - I remember seeing the look on his face and thinking that all the hard work was worth it... I last saw him a few months ago and told him we were expecting a baby. I dreamed of going to show him the baby as well, but sadly he passed away from lung cancer two weeks ago. I knew he was ill - the other teachers told me that in secret...may he rest in peace.
My other options would be J.K. Rowling - I believe the three of us could have a very intersting conversation about Harry Potter and its messages of the power of love and friendship, or Israel's president - would love to hear a political discussion between the two of them...

Thanks, all.  Beautiful story, Mi.

Naw, I thought of Billy C. but thought he'd talk too much and he and Macca would end up in a bitch and gripe session about H.+H.(LOL).

I thought of politicians, musicians, women, someone worthy that I would find interesting to see for myself and to see Macca hit it off with -----Introducing, Ms. Bonnie Raitt!

Hip, cool, sexy, comfortable with her age, flaming red mane, outrageous blues/slide guitarist, wonderful singer, song-writer, long a progressive, musical historian - I think Paul would find a lot besides music interesting!  Paul speaking with someone so accomplished and knowledgable would bring his best out.
If they didn't hook-up romantically, think about her touch on him musically,  and how her strengths could complement his.  They have a lot of musical friends in common, so that would be a gas to hear about.

This may not be the most spectacular dinner, but the most real and satisfying.  Of course, after dinner, all are invited back to Macca's to party! beer bigbeer

Excellent suggestion, PW!

Another one I'd thought of was Billy Connolly....what a "greet big fahrse that'd be!"
