The often discussed topic of Paul's concert set-lists is re-visited here, to investigate how Paul can construct a set-list that pleases the the "old casual fan" and the Macca-Freak, alike.

Play enough Beatles, more Wings/solo, etc. etc.  The key to making this work, is getting enough recognizable Wings/solo stuff in to bridge the gap.  Picking 38 songs, let's see what you think of this - and please tinker or bull-doze it if you like!

Getting Closer

Oh Darling!

Junior's Farm

Only Mama Knows

Mrs. Vanderbilt

ObLa Di Obla Da

The Mess

Acoustic Set:

We're Open Tonight
Friends To Go
Try Not To Cry

Junk (Singalong)
Heart of the Country
Bluebird
One More Kiss
One of These Days
Blackbird

Helen's Wheels

You Won't See Me

Arrow Through Me

Whole Life

Soily

Tug of War

Single Pigeon

Your Mother Should Know

Mr. Bellamy

Martha My Dear

The World Tonight

 bigbeer

OK, Macca, get the band together, here's the set-list! beer

Well, other than never having to hear The World Tonight ever again in this life time, I think that is a good list. The Acoustic set is a good idea since it would give his voice a bit of a break in the middle. I wonder about Hi Hi Hi though....maybe too much for the chords these days?

2/3, he can do HI, Hi, Hi in a lower register and rely on the band for lots of sing-along chorus.  Feel free to offer an alternative to The World Tonight.  "Letting Go?"

Another option for the acoustic part is a medly of All Together Now/Yellow Submarine/Uncle Albert-Admiral Halsey/(final chous of:)All Together Now.  A great audiance participation-laugher rendition. rolling

if he was to do a song like letting go...i would like to think he would take the time, and do it the right way.

that is...with a horn section.

letting go, just might be the paul song that uses horns to perfection...not overbearing.

Nah, Wix could do the Letting Go horns with one arm tied behind his back! Unfortunately, the set-list here would please the Macca freak much more than the casual fan. They would want to see it filled with 75% Beatles classics with perhaps Band on the Run and Live and Let Die thrown in there. Things that they know. Of the acoustic set, they would only know Yesterday. It's a hard choice trying to please both camps. I just think Paul should focus on songs from Chaos and Memory and throw in a few Beatle / Wings classics here and there, just to remind the crowd that he is still a vital artist not only with an 'ever present' past - but with a present and a future. I'm tired of the teary-eyed nostalgia tour videos I've been seeing - I want to see him playing and rocking out his new stuff!

The setlist looks great!! I´ve read in some book that Paul tried to play Martha My Dear for Broadstreet but it was to difficult toplay that song??

Absolutely....I've often wondered why the Rick is never used.....I've never even seen it in his rack of instruments on the tours I've seen. I remember reading an interview with John Entwhistle of the Who....he had a Rick like Paulie's and he said the neck on those models was very thin. This contributes greatly to ease of play, but they tended to warp a bit...I wonder if that is what's up with Macca's?

gotta wonder...was this the very same instrument he first used in the hello goodbye video (with the sgt pepper uni's)? i sorta think maybe it is.

all of a sudden the mystery bass gets a little more interesting.

To be correct, Paul first used his 4001 Rickenbacker on Paperback Writer and the Revolver sessions. I have one myself and yes the intonation is not so good on it.. it's warped to hell unfortunately and so I don't use it anymore.

How about Paul just does one song from every album, from Beatles to Wings to Solo.....that would be a lot of songs. smokin
