There were a pair of albums entitled "Listen To What the Man Said"....these two albums consisted of Paul McCartney tunes as rendered by other artists. One of them had all 'indie' type artists, while the other had 'popular' artists...I only got the 'popular' CD. There were some dang fine covers on it: "Jet" by Semisonic, "Too Many People" by the Finn Brothers, "Every Night" by Matthew Sweet, "Coming Up" by the John Faye Power Trip and a stunning version of "Warm & Beautiful" by Linus of Hollywood. Anyone else have this?

Yes I do!  grin My favourites are Maybe I'm Amazed by The Virgos (best version ever in my opinion, even better than Macca's!) and Love In Song by The Judybats. Owsley's Band On The Run is a nice faithful version. I'm not too keen on Matthew SDweet's Every Night. Even though he's faithful to the sound of the original, it's a little too loose for my liking and I don't think his phrasing is anywhere as good as Paul's. Which is a shame because generally I like Matthew Sweet a lot (did a good covers album with Susannah Hoffs of The Bangles last year).

The Matthew Sweet/Susanna Hoffs CD was one of the very best I purchased last year!

And at least one of the two tribute CDs is a goody...as I said, I only got the 'popular artist' disc. I keep hoping to run across the other in a cut-out bin somewhere.

I bought both of these!  There are a few clunkers, but for the most part they're pretty enjoyable!  There's a version of No More Lonely Nights by a band called The Merrymakers which is FANTASTIC!!
