I'm so glad you guys brought this subject up. I've really been excited about Liverpool8 since I first heard of it . I really hope to see Ringo back in the spotlight again. I love the concept of another Beatle doing another homage to his hometown (didnt Macca compose the symphonic "Liverpool Oratorio" a few years back ?)Something tells me Ringo's will be more fun ! lol

Here it is :

and here's the Promo CD :

thx Mervap & The Big Guy,   :beer:Cheers !

This will certainly be an interesting release....Ringo has been putting out consistently good albums since 1992. He changed producers for this one, so we'll have to see if this one measures up.

There should be a bit more buzz about this album than any Ringo CD in years.

Ringo Starr Releasing Album as USB Bracelet

The new album by the ex Beatles member will be released as a CD, and as a digital downloadable version.

Ringo Starr’s “Liverpool 8” album will certainly be a hit amongst fashion lovers, because it comes in the form of a USB bracelet.

The new album by the ex Beatles member will be released as a CD, and as a digital downloadable version.

The USB bracelet version will only be available as a limited edition, and that is what excites fans the most, reports Contactmusic.

The bracelets will also contain a personal video message, a documentary on how the album was recorded, as well as melodies for mobile phones and photographs.

The new album gives honour to Liverpool in England where the legendary drummer grew up.

i'm so glad to see that Ringo is still putting out good music and that there are still people who think he's great. He went through so much with alcohol and stuff, but he still seems to keep on keeping on. Go RINGO!

Music Review: Ringo Starr - Liverpool 8
Written by Big Geez
Published January 01, 2008

Brand new on the Capitol/EMI label, Ringo Starr’s Liverpool 8 is bound to create a few waves - or at least some ripples - because it's not only receiving some extensive promotions but is also being marketed in a number of ways. Available January 15th, it's being released not only as a CD (or as digital downloads) but also as a pre-loaded USB wristband that includes video features, ring-tones, and photos.

The album is also tied to a concert in Liverpool, radio and TV features, and other promotional activities including special deals with everyone from Amazon to VH1. And of course, advance copies have been sent to music critics, which is where I come into the picture.

It goes without saying (a phrase that's always followed by saying it anyway) that you can't talk about Ringo without mentioning the Beatles. But everybody knows the history of the group and where Ringo fits into it, so I'm not going to go over all that again.

Obviously the album has a lot of connections with Ringo's past — how could it not? In fact, the title song itself is obviously autobiographical, but I'd rather get into my impressions of the music itself, which is why we're here. (Or at least, it's why I'm here. I suppose it's possible you just took a wrong turn somewhere.)

I didn't find the title song particularly engaging but it does have some curiosity value, I suppose. Some of the other tracks did a better job of hitting the target with me. Among them was "Now That She's Gone Away," with a solid vocal from Ringo accompanied by a driving beat. Although he has a rather straightforward and unremarkable baritone, he does occasionally coax forth something a little different, and that variety helps sell that and other songs.

Good examples include "Gone Are The Days," a tune that's obviously evocative of a psychedelic past, and "If It's Love That You Want," which has a positively retro format that Ringo serves with relish. For something a little different yet, try the Latin guitar-backed sound of "Pasodobles."

I had a couple of favorites besides those already mentioned. One was "Harry's Song," which has an unusual opening but then shifts gears and turns into a tune that includes a little bit of everything, including an echo and whistling. (Trust me — it sounds better than it describes.) I also found the closing track, "R U Ready," delightfully playful and the perfect finish to an album that surprised me with its diversity.

Clips will be available at Ringo's Website or Ringo's Myspace.

1. Liverpool 8
2. Think About You
3. For Love
4. Now That She's Gone Away
5. Gone Are The Days
6. Give It A Try
7. Tuff Love
8. Harry's Song
9. Pasodobles
10. If It's Love That You Want
11. Love Is
12. R U Ready?

Ok, I've been naughty and downloaded the leak of it.. wow I am hugely impressed. It's definitely a quality album. For all the praise Ringo's albums have been getting in recent times, I kinda found the music almost bordering on self-parody at times, like The Rutles fronted by Ringo. But Liverpool 8 is a different affair altogether. Rather than being cheesy, the production and arrangements are genuinely well-formulated.. sometimes to spectacular effect. The title track alone is a masterpiece, probably the best piece of music he's ever made, besides Photograph.

Other tracks of high quality include For Love - breathtaking.. and Gone Are The Days - the intro reminds me of Pink Floyd's Meddle album, but lined with swathes of electronica and prog elements, and Ringo's vocals right on the button, he's sounding almost 'alternative' here - like I've never heard him before. If It's Love That You Want is a cruisy Jeff Lynne-style rocker with some ace vocals - Ringo singing with good range here too. There are good potential singles on here, I hope they promote the heck out of it, make some videos etc.. dare I say, there are tracks on Liverpool 8 that outshine Memory Almost Full! Unlike the looseness of say, Nod Your Head, Liverpool 8 is polished and by jove, Ringo has made the album of his life!

I missed the concert on the CBS Early Show the other day but I am anxious to catch some more public apprearances.  He's supposed to be on Craig Ferguson's show in the coming weeks - ought to be fun.  It's great to see Ringo keeping on keeping on... smiley  I might break down and buy this one.  I didn't buy Choose Love - but I like almost all of his work from Time Takes Time on...

i think this is Ringo's best since Time Takes Time. I think he's been putting out good cds since then, but this one is great.

I'm guessing you meant to post this under "Y-Not"? And no need to apologise for an honest opinion... wink
