Funny, after reading that Eric Clapton played on this song, I thought, "His guitar playing sounds as if he were channeling Paul."
Rarely, if ever, has a Macca tune felt more personal for me...I know it was written for his new gal Nancy, but I guess it can be an almost universal sentiment. Some of you might have known I have been unemployed since late October. We had some savings, so I wasn't worried at first...I figured it would work out eventually. With Christmas approaching, I started to wonder where all the work had gone...I never truly expected to be off this long. Through it all, LC was stalwart in her belief in me...when we listened to this tune, she told me it was a true lyric...she seemed to be telling me that someday soon, the sun was gonna shine. And she was right. I got a call from a guy out of the blue who said he'd talked to a guy I'd worked for a while back. He needed a good worker who could pass both a drug screen (no prob!) AND a nicotene screen (again, no prob!). It's full time at a higher rate than I was earning at my last job...a miracle, really.
I need to move this....wrong section!

Oh and yeah....I love that song. I'd bet that Diana Kralls smoky voice would be a killer with this one. I wonder if she'll do a version?

Oh wow, well done, that is good to hear!
Yeah I like the tune too. I was dreading the album would sound as schmalzy as the Rod Stewart songbook series, but there's a trueness and a sincerity to the track that comes through. And because of that, it doesn't sound out of place or old-fashioned. Macca has always been good at doing this smoky style throughout his career, from Til There Was You, to Baby's Request to Two Magpies on Electric Arguments. Fingers crossed, the rest of the album will be good!

I thought about putting this in Lampie's thread..but it seems to work best here considering Merv's post...but did anybody see Christopher Plumbers acceptance speech at the Golden Globes?
His last words were " I'd like to thank my wife of 43 years Elaine, who's bravery and beauty, haunts me still"
I mean..wow.

Thanks, Greg...and it's so cool having you back!
Plummer is one of his generation's best actors....and sounds like a fine gentleman.
