Paul is often defended against his "he-just-writes-soft-tunes" rep by the mention of Helter Skelter and I'm Down. Most of the time the list just seems to sort of stop there at those two.  We may have gone over this already, but I was listening to BOTR tonight and when Jet came on I was reminded how much that song rocks.  I had the record on really loud during dinner because it was just the kids and me tonight.  His voice is really in rock mode on that tune as is the bass and just general feel of the tune.

Others that I would list to anyone who said he wasn't really capable of harder rock stuff:

Monkberry.  Hi Hi Hi.  Beware My Love.  So Glad To See You Here.  There are many that people have never heard if they just know him through radio.

Anyway, It's always Helter Skelter and I'm Down.  Those are the two even he always uses!

Funny isn't it? I mean, Paul has been screaming his guts out for 50 years and people still say...oh,right..the silly loves songs guy.   smileys7 laughing

Welcome back, Greg!

How about something like 'Oh Woman Oh Why', that one has him in full screaming-his-guts mode.

Yeah Paul has got many rockers and good ones too, yet that stereotype doesn't surprise me because the feel of nearly all Paul's records is one of warm sentiment. You generally feel happy and up after listening to Paul. Almost never down and nasty. If you listen to Lennon's Give Me Some Truth or Scared, they don't rock harder than Paul's rockers, but emotionally they're darker, harder, sharper.

Even Silly Love Songs has got quite a solid rock groove, but the mood is anything but mean.
