Did you see the changing of the Imagine lyrics?  Was it discussed?  Anyway...

I personally don't care that he did that.  I kind of like the sentiment to all get along.

The other part of me thinks, "Hey...dude...write your own song and say that.  Who are you to change John Lennon's intent on a song so significant?  Show some respect.  Those weren't Lennon's lyrics."

Yeah merv, it was Cee Lo...not sure where he was singing it, but he changed " and no religion too" to "all religion is true". This just said to me that the guy didn't know what Lennon was talking about in the first place if he felt the need to change it.

I've read the article and agree with one of the commenters who said, "If you don't agree with the lyrics, don't sing that song." Of course, in the grand scheme of things, Ce-Lo will be a footnote in music history, if he's remembered at all. JL? He's been gone over 30 years and we're still writing about him....

Here's the story:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/imagine-cee-lo-added-religious-twist-lennon-song-peace-love-unity-article-1.1002147?localLinksEnabled=false

What a twit. To change those particular words in that song, means that he has no idea what John was singing about in that song. He was singing about us all being free and in peace, with no divisions between us. Religion by its nature creates divisions (no offence intended for any folk out there). Catholics vs protestants.. there's a lot of anti-muslim sentiment creeping in to New Zealand culture due to recent immigration-related initiatives, and there's also the animosity towards say Jehovahs Witnesses and the Brethren. Regardless if you're religious or not, people are going to argue over it til the cows come home.

That's why John was saying, imagine no hell below us, above us only sky. The world would be more united if we had none of the dogma between nations and between individuals. To change those vital words means Cee Lo completely missed the point of it all. He has forfeited the right to sing it, in my opinion. He should stick to judging reality singing shows.

After reading more posts I've come to feel that I don't like it because it's total disrespect for Lennon.  That's it.
