Many of you may have seen this, but I thought it quite thought-provoking and informative:

It is interesting how the record companies work isn't it? They are almost like the government...want to spend tons of money on a study to see if something is feasible...before spending tons of money. Macca is right, just get it out there. Of course on the other side...there are bands like Radiohead, who I'm sure did what they wanted anyway. And there is a story from 2006 where they wanted Coldplay to get their album out before it was finished in order to help the shareholders dividends for that year....Coldplay basically told them to get stuffed. And just recently, the new President of EMI said if Coldplays new album isn't a huge blockbuster like the last one, that they will be in deep doo doo. It's scary when a huge company like that has to rely on a handful of their artists to survive financially.
