Beatle news briefs: James McCartney to debut on Letterman show

JAMES McCARTNEY LETTERMAN DEBUT: James McCartney will be performing Jan. 23-24 at Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe in Park City, Utah, the Viper Room on Jan. 27, Feb. 1 at Rockwood Music Hall (a free show) in New York City and Feb. 3 as Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, N.J. But the bigger news is that he'll be making his debut on "Late Night With David Letterman" on Jan. 30. His dad, Paul McCartney and sisters Stella and Mary, recently popped in for his club gig in London, reported the Daily Mail.

Wow, that's kind of a big deal. I realize that being on tv these days doesn't mean a whole lot, but doing Letterman is still a feather in your cap. Almost nobody sounds bad on the Letterman show. Whoever produces the music segments there are really good. Pretty neat doing a show in the same theatre your father played in on the Ed Sullivan show though.
