I always felt bad for Pete Best...he went to Hamburg, worked his butt off with the band, played innumerable thankless gigs with them, and at the cusp of immortality, got sacked. I'll be the first to admit that Pete is nowhere near as good as Ringo, but it always seemed kinda cowardly that the other Lads made Brian be the one to fire him...face the man, guys!

Of course, with the release of the first Anthology, Pete is now seeing some nice income from those days, as the Decca recordings with him were included there.

I never felt sorry for Best. He was a lousy drummer (least not for Beatle-standards) Ringo was PERFECT for this band. So long Rory Storm, Hello FAB4!! lol I will admit though, the boys were a little wimpy about how they axed Mr. Best---I'm trying to remember if it was Eppy or Martin who gave Pete his marching orders...either way, I always felt John or Paulie should've stepped up to the plate for that one.. oh well, all for the BEST (hehe) (pun intended) 'cause we got our beloved Ringo instead. Granted, Starkey didnt have Pete's "Teddy Boy" good looks, but conversely, Best never had the "lovability factor" in his corner because Paul was a little jealous of his physicality.

I always had a joke about Best : these days he sings "Twist and Pout"  knock
