Yes, you, step right up, here's the key to the tape vaults at Abbey Road.  The masters of all the the White Album ERA tapes are yours to produce, not just how you may want to tinker with the actual songs on the album, but also, everything recorded during that span!

Do you alter the sound of the originals - using original recorded tapes?
How?
Do you include other songs?
What order?
Alternative takes?
Un-released tracks?
Different mixes of original tracks? Or of the other songs?
The packaging.  Your call!

What "Color" Is Your "DELUXE" White Album? - and what format, number of discs!

Best 3 descriptions gets a CD burned from my collection - of their choice! (Negotiated after your selected.)

I don't really know what group of other songs were recorded during this time period. I guess a Whitetology type album would be cool...perhaps with remastered versions of the Esher Demos too....would be good to hear what George had ready to go and not used....or if It Don't Come Easy was in mind for Ringo too. I think the album cover should stay white....perhaps with a Pearl finish though. :)

For the sake of historical preservation, I cannot allow myself to tamper with what I consider to be the finest double album ever made. I would, however, insist that the entire album be re-mastered by the same dude who did the "Yellow Submarine" package. Further, I would add, as a bonus, a third disc including several tasty things:

not guilty
on the road to rishikesh (child of nature, from the esher demos)
what's the new mary jane
circles (esher)
guru dev (esher)
obla-di, obla-da (original version)
while my guitar gently weeps (acoustic)
lady madonna
the inner light
across the universe

All of these would be the best possible versions available.

The entire re-mastered package would also be available in a variety of audio formats including 5.1...also included would ba a never-before-discovered DVD of some of the "White Album" sessions, taped by a then-unknown and unsigned filmaker named Steven Spielberg, who was on a work study program in the UK. Some of the film is quite revealing and include the day Yoko showed up at the sessions for the first time, the day Geoff Emerick quit engineering for the Lads and the session for "Why Don't We Do It In the Road?".

All of this is to be priced at $16.95, or if you tell them you are a member of Let's Talk Beatles.com, FREE!!!! idea

not unlike mervaps suggestion...the first two original disks cannot be changed...remastered maybe...but otherwise left as is.

another disk, consisting of alternate takes (if they are from the anthology series, fine with me) and unreleased tracks (not guilty comes to mind)

snippets of songs...incomplete...with banter among the band (ala let it be) would be interesting as well. you can hear the progression of a song evolving until its final version. but the mistakes...and rejected ideas along the way would be fun.

its not uncommon these days (elvis costello has re-released many of his albums this way) to add a disk or two by including alternates and unreleases. its a great way to imagine the frame of mind of the band when making this classic album.

WINNER!  WINNER! WINNER!...................WE HAVE A WINNER .............FOUR OF THEM!!!!!!!!!

There are three excellent contributions and one participant, so the winning pool has been expanded by one to four.  2/3, Merv, Chris and Lampie, PM me with a request for any artist/ CD title from the 60's or 70's and it's yours, if I don't have it, I'll PM you some suggestions based on your request that you may like from what I have.

A combo of the submitted entries would be great.  My design has similar and some different variations.

First, the CD's are packaged in an original White colored LP size Box, so all the original artwork-lyrics are included.  A new original LP size 30 page Deluxe Edition guide is included.  Yes, the original portraits are included.  The original White Album is in it's original order, Digitally re-mastered in the spirit of the original mix.

A bonus disc is included that contains alternative takes of all the White Album songs both never heard and those previously included on the Anthology series.  Highlights include the 24 minute "Helter Skelter" and the John version of "Goodnight."

Another bonus disc includes the Esher Demos, recorded at George's House -  in a major technological up-grading, highlights include: "Child of Nature," the folk-rock version of "Revolution" and an acoustic "Back In the USSR"!

The fifth disc includes alternative takes and demos of the White Album era singles:"Hey Jude," "Revolution,"
"Lady Madonna," and "The Inner Light."  Songs that were recorded for possible inclusion in the White Album that didn't make it - are included in refurbished full - album ready - production quality.  They are:
"What's the New Mary Jane?," "Junk/Jubilee," "Sour Milk Sea," "Circles," "Not Guilty," and the mysterious Paul composition - "Etcetera."

Tell me if you'd like Apple Corps to produce  this album!  |

Secondly, how about a Sgt. Pepper Deluxe Box?   kiss

Hey Winners!  Your winning CD's went out today, let me know when you get 'em and how you like them.

Looking over at the various "Deluxe" editions of the White Album, aside from fun, seriously,  I think Apple Corps should give every re-mastered CD the "deluxe" treatment.

One regular, and one deluxe!  Really, now. toocrazy

awesome...

can't be improved upon....(except it's still hard for me to warm up to the strangeness of What's The New Mary Jane--definitely one of John's more absurdist pieces. The other three Beatles (George, Macca & Ringo werent too keen on the inclusion of Revolution 9 either as I recall--John winning that call...but I can imagine their complete revulsion at WTNM) Not to be the Ant-Purist here, but I'm kinda delighted that track never made the final cut on TWA)It's fine on Anthology, but not on one of the Fab's seminal works, IMHO. Thankfully wisdom prevailed. A revised edition of The White Album/A Doll's House might include it, but it would be just that...revisionism. Reminds me of the recent release of Let It Be Naked. It's cool for people who enjoy the stripped-down, Paul -friendly versions of his "Long And Winding Road" (etc.), but it stands secondary (IMHO)to the original Spector-ized version. Likewise, I strongly feel that "Mary Jane" would've destroyed the musical integrity of TWA as we know it.

The proposed "deluxe edition" means you can have it all!

You get the original - and unrevised album  AND the White Album era songs on separate discs.

More Beatle songs is always a good thing and having the creative, historical context illuminates the final product, which of course is the White Album.
