For any one like myself who was not alive during the Beatles heyday, the "Live At the Hollywood Bowl" recordings offer an opportunity to at least hear what a Beatles show was like...I cannot imagine what it must have been like for the Lads to be onstage with their amps at full volume behind them and, in front of them, a seething, screaming mass of people, mostly girls, trying to drown them out in adoration. Aside from the screaming, the boys' performances are good to great...they hadn't any proper monitors to speak of, so it's amazing they sound as fine as they did. It would be really nice for these tapes to be re-mastered and properly released...my boot is great, but an official CD would be even better.

Kind of strange that this is not on CD. Being old, I have the album...and it is a treat. crazy

Incidentally, this album was the second Beatles release I ever bought...took me a long time to find it on CD.

Yeah, I have the original vinyl, great to hear, but probably not the boys' finest vocal perofrmances (lack of foldback and too many screaming girls probably contributed to that!).

Just when the howling screams of Hollywood Bowl frustrates me, I pull out a comp I made of the original Beatle songs that are performed, live, in the studio, with-out the yelling, from the "Live At the BBC."

I'm hoping that there is a live, concert comp of the Beatle Tours in the works that has minimal screaming interference in the mix, that will be assembled and with the aid of cutting -edge digital re-mastering, will put our ears on stage with John, Paul, George and Ringo. idea

i had this album on vinyl long ago. if i recall correctly...the back cover had a note written by george martin on how great it was to be around when this was recorded. george's son (?) asked george if the beatles were as good as (the then immensely popular) the bay city rollers. sir george answered kindly saying...no, they were not as good. figuring his son would find out the truth on his own eventually. it was a very sweet moment. where a father protected the memory of his son's favorite band by telling a little white lie. that george martin fella was okay in my book.
