In anticipation of the release of the Beatles Catalogue, digitally re-mastered, I'm sure there are many marketing plans.

One I'd propose would be the release of a "single" for radio airplay, video and digital down-load.  This could pre-date the catalogue release by a month and gain publicity momentum.

Out of all the currently available Beatle songs that have never been released as a single, which one song digitally re-mastered would most likely "hit" the current music market demographic and have the most impact - as well as providing the "blast-off" for the digital Beatle releases?

A. Back In the USSR

B. Helter Skelter

C. Oh Darling

D.While My Guitar Gently Weeps

E. In My Life

F. And Your Bird Can Sing

G.Getting Better

H.I've Got A Feeling

I. ------Your Pick From the Rest.........                           107

Predicting what song could be a hit is a tricky enterprise at best....

I'd pick "Come Together"...

Mervap;  The point is to pick a song that NEVER was released as a single - and make it one now!

Come Together is great, but previously released.  Of course songs not on the list are welcome to be nominated.

Well, it WAS 3:59 AM..... smileys7

Very well.....I'm gonna come out of left field with this one: "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Awesome drum rip...I could see people dancing to that at a funky club.  aikido 0150-music

hmmmm...great question--this could engender a lot of good conversation. I gotta think about this one for a sec....today's market is so diverse, maybe anything's game...but Helter Skelter seems like a good candidate (even though it's not really one of my fave Beatle songs) because I think it might appeal to the post-grunge crowd of today...(hmmmm not sure)

I don't think it was a single (lemme check my old memory banks), so I think it qualifies.

second runner up: Maxwell Silver Hammer (I know, I know, it's one of Macca's "novelty" -type songs, but something about the whimsical black humour of the song might hook some of today's listeners...of course I COULD be wrong, what do I know.. I'm just an old Beatlemaniac! lol)

Helter Skelter/And Your Bird Can Sing would make a hell of a double-sided A - single release in today's market and rivet attention to a forthcoming avalanche of re-mastered Beatle - Works. cutevil

Let's be realistic folks, the logical answer is "nothing". Music has changed, the business has changed, the best bands on Earth right now receive very little promotion. If you're a talented white boy with a guitar, forget it. The only way a Beatle song would make the charts these days would be if a sampled loop was repeated ad nauseum while some rapper with partially-clothed dancers cavort in a bland R&B groove. It would be something akin to Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You" (Every Breath You Take).

I'd be more hopeful - if they did what I propose.
Remember when the Beatles came out, the prevailing opinion was that guitar bands were "out."

They really didn't market "1" and it went boffo.

The legion of Beatle fans, newbies and target marketed youth should make the "Re-masters" and hopefully a "kick-off" single - kick ass.

The world (and youth of today) needs "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"/"What Your Doing?"

OK Beatles - we are (AND HAVE BEEN) waiting! automaticgun

Actually, Kyle, that's kinda what "Tomorrow Never Knows" was....there were sampled loops, dropped in semi-randomly, over a hard-as-nails beat.

How true....how sad!

......and they could roll-out the Hula Girls from "Hello Good-bye" and up-date it, digitally, to vaporize some of those flowers and grasses away to result in a good "lei." crazy

I think "And your bird can sing" would do well in today's market, it has a very modern sound.  I think "Dear Prudence" could do well, too.  "Here Comes the Sun" and "While my Guitar gently Weeps" are great songs that would be hits today.
