Ringo Lines Up All Starr Tour

It’s going to be a busy summer for former Beatle Ringo Starr.

The peace-sign-loving man is heading out on the road beginning in June with the latest incarnation of his All Starr band.

Joining the former mop-top this time around in his ensemble will be ‘80s rocker Colin Hay (the former Men At Work singer) as well as Billy Squier, rocker Edgar Winter, “Dream Weaver” singer Gary Wright, Hamish Stuart, formerly of the Average White Band and Steve Vai’s former drummer Gregg Bissonette.

Ringo recently gave fans a taste of what to expect on the trek when he held court with another merry cast during a launch show for his new album, “Liverpool 8,” at the Los Angeles House of Blues.

Helmed by former Eurythmic Dave Stewart, who helped produced and played on the album, the band churned out a trio of tracks including Beatles fave, “With A Little Help From My Friends.”

The audience, which included hundreds of lucky fans and The Zutons, a sprightly soul rocking combo from Ringo’s home patch, all found themselves enamored with the elder rock statesman whose showmanship extended to a trip behind his famed drum kit.

Starr’s band, on that day anyway, also featured at least one member on the rise – violinist Ann Marie Calhoun.

Calhoun won a popular online vote, which landed her onstage with The Foo Fighters at the Grammys, but backstage at that event last week, she said playing with Ringo was no small feat.

“I played three shows with him for his promotional tour. It was just a bright spot in my musical career,” she said.

The tenth incarnation of Ringo’s All Starr’s kick off their tour June 19 in Niagara Falls before moving through New York, Boston, Atlantic City and wrapping things up at LA’s Greek Theatre on August 2.

Thanks so much for that article, Lady Lampie....Ann Marie Calhoun was the acoustic guitar player with Ringo on the Craig Ferguson show. She seems to be a very talented musician and is 'easy on the eyes'. Yet another question answered by Lampie!

Possibly, PBW, but it depends on the venue...some are way better than others. The Fox Theater here in ATL is the finest room for a smallish show...a couple of thousand.
