What do you think it would have contained?

Um...first...here's mine...Of course I call it GET BACK.
My original thought was what if the Beatles had released one more album in the spring of 71 - about a year after Let It Be - and before Ram and Imagine came out.
It would contain 12 songs: 4 by John - 4 by Paul - 3 by George - and 1 by Ringo.
And of course at least one would have to be a little strange.
If you listen to it in order, the songs flow smoothly into one another and there is actually a little gap between side 1 and 2, due to the start of Love.
One might think it would end with John's comment in God - but in true Beatles style there is a little extra in the end -
And Pity is the perfect end to a marriage gone bad.

Side 1:
1. INSTANT KARMA
2. MAYBE I'M AMAZED
3. WHAT IS LIFE
4. IT DON'T COME EASY
5. OH WOMAN OH WHY
6. COLD TURKEY

Side 2:
1. LOVE
2. EVERYNIGHT
3. OOU YOU
4. BEWARE OF DARKNESS
5. GOD
6. ISN'T IT A PITY

I have been listening to this CD now for over 4 years and it still is one of the best ever. (*winces at my audaciouness*)

But wait...
What if it was a double album released in the summer?
Then we would have:

Side 3:
1. TOO MANY PEOPLE
2. WORKING CLASS HERO
3. I'D HAVE YOU ANYTIME
4. MAN WE WAS LONELY
5. IMAGINE
6. MY SWEET LORD
Side 4:
1. SMILE AWAY
2. AWAITING ON YOU ALL
3. POWER TO THE PEOPLE
4. GIVE IRELAND BACK TO THE IRISH
5. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE
6. ALL THINGS MUST PASS

Hey Savoy....thanks for this thread...I tried at the other place a few years ago, to make Beatle albums out of solo albums that coincide with the appropriate years...and, though no one else was interested, it just shows how good the Beatles would have been if they never broke up. If they were all still around today, you would still get a great album...mixing Paul's last few albums, with the best or Brainwashed is good enough right there...but with Johns additions...and even Ringo of course, you would still have the high standard we expect out of the Beatles. And, of course...it would be great to hear what the collaborations would have produced..with each other giving ideas to the songs..just like the old days....with George Martin too .:)

Hey, ST, thanks for the great set list for the Beatle/Solo album.  2/3 the problem at the other place was, the main intent for half the members there was to prove that Paul started in Wings and that his worse albums were actually brilliant and if you didn't agree - you were not cool!  crazy

I have a "Beatles 73" CD burned that's great, you can figure out the obvious picks, I'll dig it out and post my song selections here in the next few days.  1973 was a very impressive period for all four of them.

thx guys, we can all come up w/ other combinations, but you're right, the Beatles just cant lose. With so many great solo era stuff to choose from, it only goes to show how totally prodigious our boys output was. I'm gonna try to come up w/ other set lists, then burn them to disc just like the one above. I'll keep ya posted !! I wanna hear your lists !!! Possibilities are endless!

Hope you like it!

Yes, they could have had a loose association, like Crosby Stills,  Nash and Young had,  made solo albums, lived private lives - and had SMASH Beatle double albums like this.  bigbeer bigbeer

Yeah,

I did the beatlemoney site.  I know it's all but useless, but I wanted to add something that wasn't already done.

Anyway,

A guy I know out in NY made the What If site.  It's actually quite clever, and I admire the passion and knowledge of the work on it.

Can you imagine the fireworks in the studio of them making one more album?  George Martin would have been run ragged with the input that each Beatle would have been submitting.

Great to read.
Ringo could have sung Uncle Albert well.
The Beatles doing Smile Away?  Can you imagine how good that would've been?

Wait.  What was I thinking?  Ringo singing the "...But there's no one left at home
And i believe i'm gonna rain" part?  Nope.

Funny, I never thought about Ringo singing that one, but he could certainly have done the middle bit about "...Admiral Halsey notified me..."....that would have been great!
