My close encounter of the first kind (w/ meeting any of our 60's heroes)was having met Davy Jones (hey, dont laugh u guys--when I was 14 in '67, I was a huge Monkees fan LOL--Nesmith was 'da man'!)
Anyway....met Davy outside his horse farm in central PA in 2005(that's right--he doesnt live in L.A.--he commutes between his birth home in Manchester, England and Pennsylvania, USA)(least he did at the time)He was right there w/ two of his adult daughters just outside the fence of his sprawling acreage. My younger sister Kelly (who was 7 years old when the
Pre-Fab Four went #1 w/
"Im A Believer" --so she was pretty awestruck to see a 60-year old (plus) Monkee also) We already knew where he lived--since we lived in PA then too--but we'd never seen him outside his property--
until that day !! We slowed down and waved to him and shouted out the window w/ absolute euphoria "We grew up with you, Davy!" to our total delight... he *waved back*, smiled and gave us a final thumbs up. We never to this day forgot that incident

(Kelly turns 48 on June 2nd)
yeah, we were definite
daydream believers after that !! :)
