Our final gift from George and it's a beauty. So many good tracks on this baby. In fact, I can honestly say there isn't a weak cut on it.

Thanks George.  wave

He sounds like Bob Dylan on so many of these tracks! And with Jeff Lynne doing the production, it's got this Wilburys sound to it - but still distinctive enough to be a George album - probably owing to the slide guitar work. The title track is a hell of a scathing track from a dying man. It's great!  laugh

I wonder what this album might have sounded like had George survived to complete it. Several tracks sound as if they could have been demos for the Travelling Wilburys...and that's not a knock at all! I just can't say enough about "Marwah Blues"...my eyes leak every time I hear it...just a preview of what Heaven must sound like! The title track is a fine companion piece to "Devil's Radio", taking the stuffing out of some very deserving folks. The most charming tune, to me, is "Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea". George's beloved ukelele gets a starring role and George sounds a if he's having a fab time. laugh

After saying what i said about "Double Fantasy" being disturbing because of it's tragic history, here's what i think about "Brainwashed. Now i got a few of the songs from that compilation CD "Songs by George Harrison" and a few other on an MP3 (like the titletrack).
I find the song very enjoyable and easier to listen to because all these songs were recorded by a man who knew he was dying. You can even tell by some of the lyrics. He didnt look at it as a bad thing, to George" he was just "switching bodies", which is sorta biblical in Christian sense, and so you tell he wasn't afraid. To me, thats what a swansong album should be. But then again thats how death should be. thats why i also believe George's death was easier to swallow that John's. Theres no comparison between being gunned down and dying of cancer.

On Larry king,Paul and Ringo touched on that, saying that George's passing was almost a blessing because he'd battled cancer 4 1/2 years and suffered too much. In John's case, absolutely nothing but tragedy and waste. miss them both.....

Yeah that was a really nice interview, Paul spoke really nicely and it was very touching how the old mates held hands. And yes, George had been preparing himself for death and he was not afraid. His last album was very knowing, a great gift from George to us.
