This was the album that inspired The Byrds to crank their now-familiar 12-string electric sound. It's a fine album, considering it was released in the midst of Beatlemania, they could have just thrown together a few 'hits' and filled it up with more covers and throwaways (like some argue Beatles For Sale was) - but they didn't do that... it's filled from top to bottom with fantastic songs. And I Love Her would be my favourite track. Simply gorgeous!

What constantly astonishes me about this album is that the Beatles began work on it just THREE months after releasing "With the Beatles". A completely new set of songs, recorded over the space of a month, between tours and appearances...and bettered their previous best set of tunes. JL was reaching a peak in terms of quality/quantity on this one.

Yeah these guys were writing in their hotel rooms, cranking out the songs, they were an unstoppable hit factory at this stage. So much momentum and confidence.
