Paul McCartney to perform in Israel

Ex-Beatle scheduled for multi-million dollar September show, final details still in works

The most famous (living) Beatle of them all, Sir Paul McCartney, will perform in Israel this summer.

Forty-three years after the Israeli government prevented the fab four from holding a concert in the Holy Land; McCartney's mangers have confirmed that arrangements are being made to include Israel in his upcoming tour.

Should everything go according to plan, McCartney will hold a one-time extravaganza in Israel this September. The concert will be held either in Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv or the Ramat Gan Stadium; either on the 18 or the 25 of September. Details are to be finalized within the coming days.

Producer David Zarzevski is said to be the man behind the venture. Zarzevski, who produces the annual Eilat Jazz Festival, has been able to bring prominent performers such as Erika Badu and Lauryn Hill, to name a few, to Israel in the past.

The production costs are estimated at several million dollars, but the performance is expected to do more than just break even.

McCartney, 66, is considered one of the most influential musicians in the past 100 years.

Oh yeah, thanks guys, I know that since yesterday:108:... I got up yesterday morning and got into our local forum, there was a big announcment there, so I just ran down to the store to get the paper and there it was confirmed. Some people here are exstatic, some still don't believe it...we're still afraid he'll cancel at the last minute, you know, if suddenly a war starts or something... Oh well, I had a feeling it was gonna happen this time. Guess I owe Paul an apology... laughing

I wonder if he's bringing Bea with him... wouldn't blame him if he prefers not to, especially after yesterday's news...  she won't have much to do, he's coming only for two days and September is too hot for any long out-of-door activities anyway... Oh well, I'm willing to babysit, anyhow... don't believe he'll be able to leave the hotel at all. There will be masses of people everywhere he goes and he'll have to be under such heavy security measures he won't be able to breath. Still, I believe he'll visit Jerusalem, at least, he'll probably be invited there to meet the president...

Actually they are not selling tickets yet, in fact  there's a rumor today saying that he's probably gonna cancel - just like we feared... 133 The attitude here from the beginning was - "I'll believe it when I see it". I just don't know what to believe anymore, it may be just a rumor but... as you can see, nothing is certain yet, so we're not getting too excited just yet... 125

We would have gone nuts as the date drew nearer, we just knew he was gonna cancel - he's not the first one.  It's just so... you know what? forget it, I'd better not say anything... smileys7

McCartney cancels planned Tel Aviv concert

Paul McCartney will not be performing in Israel next month as planned, Globes reported yesterday.

The superstar former Beatle was supposed to arrive in Israel for a single performance in late September before a projected crowd of 250,000. Sources close to the no-show show said recently that McCartney's manager was seen scouting a location in one of the large parks in central Israel.

The concert was reportedly slated to take place at Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv or at Ramat Gan Stadium, and media reports last week said tickets would cost between NIS 600 and an unprecedented NIS 1500.

Producer Dudu Zerzevsky was working on bringing McCartney to Israel, but negotiations apparently reached a stalemate. Zerzevsky declined to comment.
