After the succes he had with some singles Ringo finally recorded a brilliant album. All the Beatles contributed to the record. Maybe the closest the Beatles were to come together was when they recorded John´s I´m The Greatest, Paul the only one who was missing. In stead they had Klaus Voorman on bass.
Don´t know who said it, but someone said that if Paul had been around he would have joined the fun, but he was busy doing other things, Band On The Run?
Great record, many great songs. In a way the songs suited Ringo very well. George helped Ringo write Photograph, Paul wrote Six O´clock, John I´m The Greatest.
After this record Ringo had problem coming up with something as strong as this!!
I only have this album and I don´t think I will by anything else by Ringo. Sorry, Ringo

Y'know.. I have a whole bunch of lesser albums salvaged from various bargain bins over the years (Ringo the 4th.. Rotogravure etc).. but I've never heard this album! Photograph is great though. Wow, so it really is a great record? How does it compare to say Band on the Run, Ram, all the other solo Beatle stuff at the time?

The effect of "Ringo" is different than the other classic solo stuff by the other Lads...."Ringo" is never concerned with making any kind of 'statement', other than having a fun time working with his famous friends. It's just a collection of songs, but a GREAT collection....with the aforementioned contributions from JP & G...among the luminaries making appearances on this record: J, P & G, Billy Preston, most of the members of The Band, Harry Nilsson, Steve Cropper, Marc Bolan, Nicky Hopkins and Bobby Keys. Having said that, this album clearly belongs to Ringo, and he is in fine voice here. It's really nice to see how much George Harrison did on "Ringo"....the two 'others'.

If I were to recommend one Ringo album, this one is head and shoulders the winner....of course, Ringo has released some dang fine material since 1992, so folks might want to check out "Time Takes Time" or "Vertical Man", both good albums.
