I've had a ton of discussions with folks over the years about this topic: If you had a time machine, and it was only good for one jump, what in time would you want to see or hear or do? The jump could be forward in time or backwards (traveller). You only have one shot at this, so consider carefully all the things you could see.....birth of Jesus, Battle of Agincourt, the Jurassic Era....no time is off limits. By the way, one couldn't pollute the timeline by one's actions, so nobody's going back to tell JFK, "Yo, Prez, duck right after that book depository". Maybe I watched too much Star Trek or Quantum Leap...

Duhhhh....I think I'll go back in time and remember to post what my time machine destination might be!
Ok, I have 2....one isn't serious and one is.
The un-serious destination: In the audience, Ed Sullivan Theater, Feb. 9, 1964. The world shakes and a million prospective music careers are dreamt about.
The serious destination: The year 312 A.D. at The Battle of the Milvian Bridge. Class, can anyone tell me why this date is important? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? At this battle, it has been said that the (soon-to-be) Roman emperor Constantine had a sudden conversion to the Christian faith and had Christian symbols engraved upon his soldier's shields. He attributed his victory here to these events, and later, set in motion the abolishment of the old Roman Gods. I'm no theologan, but I've always wondered if that story was true or if it was bunk.

So, you can't go back to 1977 and buy 10000 shares of microsoft at a penny a share? I don't think I'd like to go to the future....just might materialize into space...there may be nothing left. Actually, where I am now would be interesting...300 years ago. I guess a follow up question would be...where would you go, if couldn't come back? I guess most of us would say, back to being a baby again...so you can do things over again. Wouldn't want to miss out on all the people you've already met in this life.

if you choose to go back to witness some historical event...remember...that only the winners get to write what happened in the history books. for every great moment for someone (or some country) in history, there is a loser with sad or tragic story. think i would like to wax philosophy with plato or socrates (of course if that means having to learn latin or ancient greek, fuhgetaboudit.) i'd like to see how a great mind works. picking the brain of einstein would be cool. i suspect i would not choose to meet a rock star or film star. my selection would have intellectual benefits...like becoming marilyn monroes pillow.

Hi I'm new here, I would like to head to the future to see what all this 2012 business is all about - whether we get wiped out by a giant asteroid or sun flare. Going into the past, I'd hang out with Mary Shelley and her gang around the turn of the 18th century. They were like, the early hippies!

I would go back to the weekend of my wedding and do so many (little)things differently all the way along. (No pushing people in the pool, playing more "traditional" music.) And taking a proper honeymoon before becoming totally responsible. I may wait a bit longer to have kids. And I would never agree to having video games in my house. Really though, not much to go back for, my life now is good, better than ever I would say. Going back would only be my own selfish way to make good things even better. Life is not like that, you gotta love what you get in life. (Even if those pillows don't belong to Marilyn! )
