Excepting Beatles/Solo - what musical artist(s) do you know best?

Which one would you pick to display your in-depth knowledge of - if $money or your life was on the line.

Information on the music, life and career of the artist is the criteria.

The game-show host or would-be-murderer is going to test you on this - you have no choice - EXCEPT - pick the artist you know best to answer the questions.

For money - or my life - I'd have to go to my Grateful Dead cred, backed by Byrds, Rolling Stones.

I get nervous with the verifying part, for example, my life is on the line and the man with the gun checks my Rolling Stones' knowledge with Keith Richards!?!?!  rifle
