This is probably the only "hit' new show of the season...and there are a few good reasons why. First of all....yeah, it's another procedural....another cop show/drama. The difference is...they broke the mould a bit. The  team all like each other. There isn't a Chief who thinks they do everything wrong...who yells and screams about doing things by the book...who is completely idiotic and the best of times. I keep looking for the stereotype characters and they are few and far between. The lead and supporting cast....are just so likeable. I mean....you just like them. The "Mentalist" (Patrick Jane) played by Simon Baker....is a former TV psychic who now works for the Feds to help solve crimes. He doesnt believe in psychic's though...he is good at observation and can see things others cant. He is also a mess...but hides it well enough to do his job. It's one of the better ways to spend 42 minutes of you evening. :)
