I was dragged to see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" by LC and her friend...I thought I was about to lose another two hours for nothing! I gotta admit that I laughed so hard my sides hurt....it was a very funny movie!

I mentioned this one to Lampie before...and and I think she had the same opinion I did when she heard the subject matter. It's called Lars and the Real Girl....which about a guy who falls in love with a sex doll. It turned out to be one of my "little Film" favourites...an no...there's nothing naughty in

it.

Usually it's movies like Top Gun, Dirty Dancing, Cocktail, Ghost etc.. box office blockbusters that seem corny until you actually watch them and they have more depth (or reasonable acting, pacing etc) than you envisioned.

i loved lars and the real girl

had zero expectations for about a boy. found it fabulous.

a few years ago there was a flick called closer. set in england. starring julia roberts, clive owen, jude law and natalie portman. i was told it was a love story. what the hell do i want to see a love story for? but since we had just seen some wonderfully scary and bloody horror movies, i thought i'd throw my wife a bone. a psychological movie more about betrayal and heartbreak than a traditional love story. not only pretty good. but made you feel dishevelled (?) when it was done.

i did love lars and the real girl. Thanks Two.

There have been a few more that i found surprising. Most recently was the Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I had misgivings. But it turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen all year (and I see A LOT of them ;) ).
