Hopefully, some here have had the joy of viewing "Laugh In" and "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour."  They are treasures.  I know, I know, that era is over, but I gotta say, when there were only 3 networks, or channels, there was quality TV infinitely better than now - when we have 600 channels.

I was but a young pup and missed the funniest bits, but I have seen both of those shows (in reruns)and will attest that their like is not on the tube today. When it comes to funny shows, I can't think of a funnier sketch comedy show than "The Carol Burnette Show"...the Mama's Family sketches were okay, but if you have Tim Conway plaing off of Harvey Korman, you can't lose!

Carol Burnett definately!! and you know what's great? my 17 year old niece asked her parents if she could buy the DVD set with her own money! she loves Carol Burnett! Funny stuff!

I liked in Living Color too...still quote it...crazy...

When i was little, my dad loved all in the family, the jeffersons, good times, maude, soap and I of course being attached to him at the hip watched all those too :D

I love Monk and Psych now...they arent the half hour...but they are both pretty funny :D

and i still watch SNL.......

Yes Laugh-In seemed so cool at the time.  I loved that show.
Carol Burnett.  Great.

My all-time favorite:  The Gong Show.  When that came out I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  It was so stupid that it just left you wondering what was going on.  Chuck was the anti-host.  Could barely read his lines.  A guy who couldn't dance was a "dancing machine".    Oh man that show was beautiful.  I hadn't seen anything like it when that came on.

modern family is a brilliantly played family sitcom (do they still make those?) done in a fake documentary style, ala the office. everyone on this show pulls their weight.

but a show i was late getting into...is curb your enthusiasm. who knew that larry david was more jerry seinfeld than jerry seinfeld? larry was the real life george castanza. and this season, there is a seinfeld reunion...that isn't a reunion. brilliant.

First time I saw Big Bang, was the recent Christmas show, I really enjoyed it!  It felt like a timeless classic comedy, will have to peek in again at it.  Good tip.

i think 30 rock just might be the most clever show that has ever been. it is as if every other show has a week to write, rehearse, and record an episode. but 30 rock has every joke honed, and shined to near perfection week after week as if they had a whole month to get ready for each episode.

the office took a while to accept. i hated it at first, in fact. but then it grew on me. now...it's all part of must see tv.

abc's better off ted is refreshingly clever, too.
