This was an interesting project...and was the impetus for my joining some Beatles blog sites. It all started when a friend and I were wishing there was another Beatles album...got me thinking- a dangerous neighborhood for me to be roaming alone! An album tracklisting resulted, but I wasn't satisfied with just that...there would have been a press release, an interview with the Lads and at least one review. Couple of hours and it was done. I'd be curious if anyone here has done this and what came out of it.

Side One: (gotta be on vinyl!)
1. Early 1970
2. Crippled Inside
3. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
4. Smile Away
5. What Is Life
6. How Do You Sleep?
7. Apple Scruffs
8. Imagine
Side Two:
1. It Don't Come Easy
2. Back Seat of My Car
3. It's So Hard
4. Art of Dying
5. Oh My Love
6. Too Many People
7. Isn't It a Pity (version 1)
8. Ram On (reprise)
Picked them for believability i.e. does this remotely sound like it could be Paul on "How Do You Sleep?" The results were very fun to do and track out rather like "White Album". Certain omissions might be explained by the text at the link. And if any of you have already read this, please excuse my vanity! undecided

i used to argue in high school that if the band had not broken up...all of the songs they had done solo, would have been on the next beatle album to be released. nicely done...oh compiler of tune-age.

Ok, this is following the rules that the album probably would have 14 songs, and George would only get a token sprinkling (given the shape of democracy in The Beatles):
Side 1:
1 - Power To The People
2 - My Sweet Lord
3 - Another Day
4 - Imagine
5 - Working Class Hero
6 - Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
7 - Maybe I'm Amazed

Side 2:
1 - What Is Life
2 - Jealous Guy
3 - It Don't Come Easy
4 - Instant Karma!
5 - Beware of Darkness
6 - Every Night
7 - The Back Seat of My Car

Paul, having an increasing control over the band, contributes the majority of the tracks. John's songs are among the strongest he's ever written and receives massive critical acclaim. George, having only received 3 slots, walks out of The Beatles in disgust and sets off to work on All Things Must Pass, albeit now minus the likes of My Sweet Lord! Phil Spector stays on to produce the album in spite of Paul's objection. The album is heavily-orchestrated and follows on from the sound of Let It Be - lavish string productions juxtaposed with raw guitar rock, and the mid-tempo pop songs have that classic early 70s Spector drum reverb sound to them. Becomes known as being even better than Abbey Road. The Beatles now don't formally announce their breakup, but silently go off to work on their solo projects (Band on the Run, a now-delayed All Things Must Pass etc)..... rollyeyes

Both those lists are insanely strong aren't they? I mean, as they are they are all great songs....but if the combined talents of the 4 plus George Martin had got hold of them..well...nice to dream isn't it? hat

The 5 of them together used to produce magic...so not just GM with each of them solo, but all of them combined would have produced something even more special that what we already have. At least, that's what I think. kiss

Maybe some of the songs would be produced by Spector and some by G. MArtin?

It's funny now to look back isn't it? I mean, just seeing what you wrote Eddie makes me realize that is NEVER could have happened. I can't see GM and PS working together either...too bad really...it could have been interesting.
