Badfinger's Joey Molland's Wife Passes
Badfinger's Joey Molland has lost his wife. The Minneapolis-St. Paul "Star Tribune" says Kathie Molland passed away on March 24th, at the age of 62. Kathie, a Minnesota native, met the British rocker back in 1970, as Badfinger was starting to take off. In an interview last August, Molland noted that Kathie was present for many of the highlights he enjoyed while in Badfinger -- including working with members of The Beatles. A service for Kathie Molland was held last weekend in her hometown of Hopkins, Minnesota. Badfinger, in addition to being on The Beatles' Apple label, played on some of George Harrison and John Lennon's solo albums. In 1972 Joey and Kathie tied the knot, and had two sons together over the course of their 37 year marriage. While they started their family in London, Molland notes they moved to Minnesota in 1983 to raise their kids near her family. They remained in the Minneapolis area over the decades, and through Kathie, Joey became a part of the local music scene. He became such a prominent member of the community that in 2007 Molland earned induction into the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame, which is an honor typically given to native-born Minnesotans.
