Set to be released November 13, 2007. Seems like this may be better than some Macca videos we've seen before, but time will tell. Most folks would rather Macca put out concert videos that focus more on what's going on onstage, rather than having so many crowd shots...Seems as though this would be easy enough to do. Why not?  huh

Hopefully, this will finally be a Paul McCartney dvd you can treasure. Finally, a dvd without watching heavily-edited live performances fading-out mid-song in sync with crowd faces crying into their tour merchandise. Finally, all of Paul's music videos will be released on dvd - no more grainy bootleg YouTube-quality Mull of Kintyre videos to mull over. And finally, Rockshow will be on dvd - WOW - that is going to be one amazing package. This is what I expected Wingspan to be, and Wingspan turned out to be relatively disappointing. This is the collection I've been hanging out for years to own. The videos will bring back so many happy memories. I remember when Waterfalls was #1 here for a couple of weeks in a row, I was just a little kid but remember it on tv. I also remember when the South Bank Show aired and Paul played the opening notes of No More Lonely Nights on a bass guitar and souped it up with mega reverb and pow! that rocked! This is the sort of visual material that appeals to me as a fan. I'm not so keen on watching baby boomers (no offence to the BBs out there!) get their nostalgia kick in the crowd when I'd much rather be focused on Paul and HIS emotions, that's where the magic of a concert film comes together.

This dvd set is long overdue but an essential purchase from day one!

I hope so too. "This One" was my fave from that album.

I have sallied forth and bought for myself this fine package....and so far, that's all I can report....I've still gotta watch it, but the packaging looks....ok. I always end up expecting all sorts of cool tidbits of info in the booklets...there's not much here.

Now that I've had a few hours to sit with "The McCartney Years", I have to say the highlight for me is the "Rockshow" segment. All I have ever seen of this film was what was shown on MTV, and that was very old-looking and grainy...not so now! The film here looks as fresh as hour-old bread and Paul is really feeling the moment, with a tight band throwing down and a very loving audience loving his every move.

The two video discs may now be of interest to everybody, but, as a child of the music video age, I dug them plenty also...a great many of these I had never even seen.

Tell me it's not full of audience shots merv? Maybe that's what took so long. Macca had teams of private eyes, scouring the world , trying to find old super 8 footage of fawning fans. grin

The Rockshow segment is FILLED with shots of the band and Macca....not many, if any, crowd shots.

I'm waiting for Santa Claus on this, what's your verdict?  Whether it's "perfect" or not, I've seen some great prices on it (Target - $19.99 as of a week ago), so the complaints should be low?

I did purchase this and I have only one complaint, a small one...the booklet. As I said, there's not a lot in it...but I always grouse about those things....the videos look great, as does the concert footage. Santa will be most pleased!
