For those who don't know the name Alan White, I should tell you he is a permanent member of my top 5 drummers list. He's played with a wide assortment of people, but I first heard him on John Lennon's "Instant Karma"...yep, that his tasty drumming on that one! Enjoy!

Man I hate to admit this, but I always hated those fills on Instant Karma.  I feel different now that I've read his explanation.  I'll have to go listen again, but knowing what his intention was is interesting.

As a drummer, I tend to agree with you...they stick out a mile, the very antithesis of the approach I like to take. Add that to the fact it makes the song harder to play! As a listener, I always kinda liked them...  wink

I always liked them.....I thought that it was some guy beating the snot out of the kit using brushes. I had no idea it was the drummer of my second favourite band doing them. beer

Thanks!  Great story.  The drums there match the lyric and sounds like shooting stars, which matches the song's vibe.
