That's good. A whole week of illegal downloading before it is released world wide. WHY do they do that? I mean really..there are a lot of people who just can't wait and will download it...with every intention of buying it when it comes out....and then they don't get around to it. I know from personal experience.

Here's hoping this one finally has less focus on the crowd shots, I want to see close-ups of the BAND, not the friggin' crowd! Concert films should be about giving the viewer an intimate look at the event that you wouldn't otherwise see if you were there in person. I have Korn live at Montreaux on blu ray, and the filming is primarily focused on the BAND - so much that you can see the beads of sweat rolling off the forearms of the guitar player, and you can see the duck tape holding together the drum stool of the drummer! That's the kind of thing they should be focused on - not the crowd. When they go to a crowd shot in the Korn concert, it's usually a wide-angle view of the entire crowd bouncing along, and it still looks great. That's all you need. Maybe the occasional shot of a group of people singing along in the front row, but I'm sick of the Macca live videos that go to the crowd to the point where it's really distracting. If I'm watching a concert, I want to see what the guitar player is doing, where he is putting his fingers, what the drummer is doing, showcase the energy of the band itself. The last thing you want to see is some fat dude in cream slacks with his beer 'n' nuts swaying to the refrain in Hey Jude! It's just 'not cool'!!!!
It's time somebody told whoever directs Macca's live dvds that they need to rent cooler people in the crowd if they want to keep panning to them. Sure in Monterey and Woodstock they show crowd shots all the time but those people were GROOVY - know what I mean? They were sexy!

Just found another example video of embarrassing and distracting crowd shots, this time of Michael Jackson and Britney Spears performing together in 2001 -
It really does detract from the spectacle of the event.

I would guess that many of the crowd shots are there to give the director a place to cut and splice out/in better bits of performances from other shows. I know this DVD is supposed to be from New York...but I am sure they film every show and will put in the best bits from every show to make one show look the best it can be. Of course, they could do the cutting using the band footage instead of crowd shots.

If I hear it's a radical departure into something resembling more of a pure concert, I'll happily get it, if it's the same old thing, I'll cherry pick the previously un-released live songs from ITunes, or if cheap enough or enough around at a used price - I'll buy, download then sell used. Much rather it be that elusive pure concert and keep it!

Yeah..I was the one in Woodstock, Monterey, lol
If that was 2/3, he must have HUNDREDS of twin brothers, I've seen he/them do that all across this nation - and on film - all over the world!

Hey everyone,
go to PaulMcCartney.com and watch the free streaming video of Macca performing 'Highway', taken from the dvd. I'm heartened to see the filming is tastefully done, focuses on the different band members, crowd shots are kept to a minimum and when they are done it is to show the overall spectacle. Love the shots of Abe working hard behind the skins!
And isn't it great to see Macca and his band doing a rip-roaring version of a song from his Electric Arguments album! It's really good, stacks up well as a rocker. Wix on the harmonica. I'm now looking forward to getting this show. Will it be released on blu ray though? I would rather not buy the dvd in this 1080p age..

I'm actually kind of excited about this one. I saw Macca in 2005 and I was kind of disappointed. I saw him in 2009 and he blew me away. He was, hmmm, going through a lot in 2005. I think Electric Arguments gave him a chance to cast off his demons and his performance at Coachella - on the anniversary of Linda's passing - gave him a chance to re-connect with the true love of his life. (Not that he hadn't already, but this time it was symbolic in a live setting) From everything I've read about the New York shows this one ought to be good. Hopefully it will measure up to Wings Over America and Back in the U.S. I skipped on The Space Between Us. The Red Square DVD was pretty good but like everybody else I'm just waiting for a full show without all of the interjections.

NEW YORK - ABC says Paul McCartney and Beyonce will star in back-to-back one-hour specials on U.S. Thanksgiving. The evening starts at 9 p.m. EST with a Beyonce concert that was taped over the summer in Las Vegas. That will be followed by a McCartney special that includes highlights from his July concert at Citi Field in New York City. The stadium in Queens is next to the former site of Shea Stadium, where he and his fellow Beatles rocked at the height of Beatlemania. Footage from that 1965 concert also will air during the special. Both specials will offer interviews and personal glimpses of the stars

Thanks, 2/3
Longshot prediction:
After stating he is gigging in Europe for the next month - he drops this one:
"And I'll be doing some USA concerts late winter, early spring, 2010."
(With Holiday gifts to give and $$$ recieved as gifts, the timing of this built upon th Re-masters, movie song and Night in NY Concert discs, leads me to believe Macca is marketing his next shows here.)
See how I do with this one??
