Ok....I'm gonna get in trouble her for saying this....but.........I am listening to "Good Evening, New York City" ....and I must say...I haven't heard Paul sing this good in a very long time....so the trouble starts now.....Is Macca using AutoTune? I mean..he's pitch perfect on every song. Ok...let me have it.

I think you are right about the auto-tune, Two....I don't find it distracting much at all, but I'm sure some will find it annoying. Auto-tune is like hair dye.....if it's done minimally, most may not notice it, but if you over do it.....

I don't know about the technology use, but it's been written elsewhere that Paul Hicks and Geoff Emerick who worked on the CD deny any use of such techno.....BUT WHAT DOES does bother me, from the samples I heard on Itunes is Paul singing Day Tripper and A Day In the Life. I identify those vocals too much with John to enjoy them.
A tribute song is OK, but I don't like him doing much more - ESPECIALLY when he has gads of his own great songs and Beatle songs he's never done!

Macca is closer than ever to getting it right on this DVD. The audience shots are kept to a (relative) minimum, the band sounds great, there's no frantic camera work like on Paul Is Live, and his vocals are great. I actually saw him twice this year - once at Coachella and then several months later in Atlanta. He sounded great at both of those shows - even better than he did in 2005. For the record - the 2005 tour was probably the worst Macca show I've ever seen. Still better than almost any other artist, but not up to Paul's standards. I was skeptical to see him again but that show at Coachella was simply magical. Probably technically the best Macca show I have ever seen. (although it's hard to beat the first-time experience) As for A Day In The Life - when he performed it at Coachella it brought tears to my eyes. And it was clearly meant simply as a tribute to John. (Hence the reason it was part of a medley with Give Peace a Chance). He did something similar in Liverpool 15 years ago when he performed Strawberry Fields in a medley with Give Peace a Chance. The only thing on this DVD that's a little splicey is during I'm Down when he cuts between this year's performance and the Beatles performance in 1965. I actually like the effect but I can see how it could annoy some people. Fortunately the bonus DVD contains an unedited version of Macca's performance this year. In my opinion this is the best concert DVD he's officially released. The bonus disc with the complete Letterman performance is definitely worth getting. Oh to have been on Broadway that day...

I haven't bought this DVD yet but, if Paul is using Auto-Tune on this, then good for him! Even Metallica were using it on Death Magnetic, and some artists use it for creative/robotic effect (I'm one of those people who thinks it's a cool sound.. it's like a modern-day equivalent of flanging/phasing on vocals). Paul in this case is using it to get the vocals absolutely right, so important for any release - especially for a songwriter responsible for so many number one singles in popular music.
I suspect that his vocals were almost bang-on originally anyway, and just needed a few tweaks here and there - as an artist you'd be annoyed to hear those notes on record every time they come up, so good on him for using modern technology to fix them!

i've heard the denials. but i'm not sure i believe them. and truth be told, i'm not sure i care. he sounds good. and the band rocks. i like when he goes outside the proverbial macca box and stretches out a bit. the extra jam (the foxy lady thing after let me roll it doesn't count) following i've got a feeling is something i've wanted to hear from him since he started touring with this band. it is a rock concert, dude...give me a face melting guitar solo!
although i probably will not be buying it. i don't need to here him do live and let die or hey jude in concert ever again. and just out of principle, i won't own yet another disc with these live offerings on it.

Just watched the dvd last night. They must have added some sort of subliminal messaging to it, 'cause I felt damn happy while and after watching that dvd. I kept thinking how lucky I am to have been born in a time when my lifespan overlapped those of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, and to have been born in a place where I had access to their music.
That being said, while watching I also noticed how good Paul's voice sounds, so I'm not surprised about his use of autotune. I'm not a fan of autotune at all, but I think it's more acceptable for Paul to use it to boost his overused and aged voice than for T-Pain or whomever to use it to compensate for lack of vocal talent in the first place.
The one and only time I've seen Paul in concert was during his "Flowers in the Dirt" tour, and I'm so hoping that I'll be able to see him again this year.
