I was just talking on Friday at work about the Black Keys (a co-worker is a big fan), but I wasn't aware of this cover. Thanks!

I came across this cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the 2010 Irish National Guitar Festival in Drogheda. It features Donal Kirk on vocals and the guitar solos by Jimmy Smyth:

I didn't like it! Too loose. A rubbish cover in my opinion. The Black Keys are one of those overrated bands that people love because it reminds them of the old late 60s sounds.. pity it just makes them sound like a poor man's White Stripes!

I just came across this really cool cover of 'Here Comes The Sun' by the Swedish metal/rock band Ghost. They completely change the chords and everything - usually when someone does this it's a recipe for disaster but on this occasion it's awesome. Still doesn't beat the original of course at any stretch but wow very impressive - it will have you hooked on the second listen!

Glad you liked it :) It had a weird video playing behind it, from Kenneth Anger's 'Lucifer Rising'.. Marianne Faithfull and Chris Jagger was in it.

I did some reading up on the band, and it described them as a metal / doom metal band, but the album isn't what I would call overly heavy at all. No heavier than say Survivor - Eye of the Tiger, haha! This is an original from them, from their album Opus Eponymous, called 'Ritual':

It does have some heavy 'rarrrr' moments in the middle of the song, but most of it is just good hard melodic rock.
